Salvaged Redwood Mantel
Under reclaimed plank stack
Added beauty, texture and character can be introduced into any setting by introducing different wood species together or combining with dissimilar wood. In this case, a 6″ X 8″ Sequoia (Redwood) mantel, cut from a log salvaged in the construction of a Bellevue, WA office building was placed below the fireplace stack covered with reclaimed 1X material.
The setting was a great room featuring a prowl front glass wall with 26′ high ceilings. The depth of the room was 1/2 of its width with the fireplace providing the primary feature and separation between the gathering areas and dining area. This could all be viewed from the loft above.
