The Reason Rustik Kreations was started – Fireplace Mantels

When we relocated to the Cle Elum area, the new homes we built were designed around fireplaces and wood stoves.
With 50 percent of the year in snow, a heat source like this made sense and has proven to be the right decision. Our dilemma was finding products and pieces that fit the mountain setting but could be purchased in the local open market. Finding little in the area, we set out to do them ourselves. This path also came with a big learning curve in making it happen.
Today we craft fireplace mantels from primarily salvaged and reclaimed materials found in the Pacific Northwest.  As logs are secured for processing, they are carefully looked over to make sure that cutting will provide the character and beauty of the piece.

Depending on the species of wood, drying times will vary and in many cases, take years. Once dried, re-cutting occursand finishing takes place.  Our process makes sure that little is left for waste.

Why should you purchase a mantel from RustiK Kreations?

Knowledge of product involved and how it can be mounted and secured above a fireplace is big part of the answer. The space above a fireplace is a very harsh climate with temperatures rising to well over 100 degrees within minutes. This requires a very stable mantel piece that is anchored and secured correctly. It is also essential that the product be very dry and  properly finished.

At RustiK Kreations, we provide assistance in layout, selection and design. Please look through our album of finished project pictures below. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words so hopefully the pictures will provide the assistance you might need. We would be happy to discuss your ideas and help make them a reality.
  Twisted Juniper mantel

This mantel is currently on display at Embellish Gifts in Cle ELum, Washington. Occasinally, we find a piece so unque that it will take time to mate up appropriate items to it. The mantels dimensions are 6 feet long with large branch corbels for support. It is a very good example of how the proper selection can be seen as functional art within a home or other settings.

western red cedar mantel

Western Red Cedar mantel salvaged from the Snoqualmie Pass area. This mantel was custom cut and finished to blend and match the stone surrounding it. The finishing process involved a clear coat catalized varnish to enhance the natural colors within the piece. Fireplace was supplied by Thompson Hearth and Home and the stone by Marenakos.
